A longer life means more when we can stay active, think clearly and remain connected to the people we love.
This is the idea behind healthspan: the years we spend in good health. Prof. Chan’s work in biotechnology, preventive healthcare and regenerative research explores how science might help protect function as we age.
His vision reaches beyond appearance. It is about independence, everyday movement and the freedom to take part in life.

What if growing older could still mean
moving forward?
Protecting function. Preserving independence. Exploring possibility.
Our heroes never seem to grow old in our memories. The actors themselves have no such luxury.
I was sixteen when I first saw Rocky III in 1982. I was deeply inspired by Rocky’s fighting spirit—the determination to get back up and keep going when the odds were against him. That inspiration became part of my own journey, leading me to write In the Eye of the Tiger, which Jacqueline Stallone came to Malaysia to launch in 2007.
This year, 2026, marks the 50th anniversary of the original Rocky. The character’s fighting spirit still speaks to me. But as I look at the man behind him, I am reminded that even the heroes who seem timeless on screen grow older in real life.
At sixty, I find myself asking a different question: what happens when the people who taught us to be strong begin to grow frail?
That question brought me to Prof. Mike Chan’s work. The connection is a shared interest in helping people remain active, independent and engaged with life.
Our heroes gave us reasons to believe in ourselves. As they grow older, they deserve our attention, dignity and serious scientific effort—just as every ageing person does.
Prof. Chan describes a model called DDRR: Diagnose, Detox, Repair and Rejuvenate. It is European Wellness’s organising framework; it should not be read as proof that any particular treatment works.
Stem cells, exosomes, peptides and other regenerative approaches differ in evidence and regulatory status. Many proposed longevity uses remain investigational. Awards, patents and patient stories cannot replace clinical evidence or establish suitability for an individual.
Before considering any intervention, ask a qualified clinician about its evidence, local approval, risks, alternatives and full costs.
